MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Jonny Lipford

Jonny Lipford is an award-winning musician, the visionary director of Horizons Flute School, and the owner of Horizons Flute Store, two cornerstones in the vibrant Native flute community. Over 2,000 students—including 500 in the Horizons+ membership program—turn to Jonny for his expertise, charismatic teaching, and heartfelt dedication to helping musicians grow in skill, creativity, and connection to their instrument. His ability to guide students of all levels has made him one of the most sought-after instructors in the industry.

Jonny’s love for the Native American flute ignited at age 13 when he first heard its enchanting sound. After receiving his first flute in 2002, he embarked on a musical journey that has since set him apart as one of the most versatile and innovative artists in the field. With a catalog of over 16 independent albums and numerous collaborations, Jonny has earned honors from the Indian Summer Music Awards (ISMAs), Native American Music Awards (NAMMYs), Global Music Awards, and more. 

His forthcoming album, Discover The Warrior Within, due out in Fall 2025, promises to push creative boundaries and captivate listeners with its bold artistry. Meanwhile, his debut book, The Harmonic Approach (early 2026), will offer actionable insights for creative entrepreneurs aspiring to transform their passions into sustainable success.

Beyond music, Jonny is also a dedicated kickboxing and strength training instructor.   • Do I need a specific key or type of Native Flute?

    No specific flute or key is required. You can use any Native flute you have, as the techniques and ideas shared will work with all types.

  • How do I attend the workshop?

    The workshop will be presented on Zoom, but hosted through Horizons Flute School. When you register, you will create a flute school account, if you don't already have one. You will receive an enrollment confirmation. This will have further instructions on attending the workshop. 

  • What if I’m new to the Native flute? Can beginners join?

    Absolutely! This workshop is designed for flute players of all levels. Whether you’re just starting out or have been playing for years, you’ll find value and inspiration here.

  • Do I have to play live or turn on my camera?

    No, you don’t need to play live or turn on your camera. You can quietly attend the workshop, and everyone will stay on mute during the presentation to ensure a smooth experience for all. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy!

  • Will there be a replay available?

    Yes, a replay will be available. If you can’t attend live, you’ll still be able to access the full workshop on your own schedule.
