Welcome to Ocean Echoes: Native Flute Masterclass, an extraordinary blend of artistry, instruction, and camaraderie.
Throughout this immersive journey, you'll have the unique opportunity to refine your flute-playing skills under the expert guidance of Jonny Lipford.
We've curated a series of enriching activities designed to inspire and develop your musical talents. You'll engage in intensive sessions focused on honing your signature sound, integrating technique, and finding harmony when sharing music, all while receiving invaluable feedback on your progress.
Toward the end of our day together, you'll have the chance to share your creations and thoughts with fellow participants.

HORIZONS SPRING MASTERCLASS 2024

- Cost: The price for Horizons+ Members is $95, non-members is $125.
- Lunch: There is a lunch break from 12-2 pm. Food is not allowed in the Convention Center, but you can bring your own lunch and eat it outside or visit any of the local restaurants during the break.

This one-day program is focused on transforming your musicianship, enhancing your technique, and empowering you to create countless harmonious echoes with the Native flute for the rest of your life.
Dive into this immersive experience, and let the oceanic melodies guide your path toward becoming a seasoned flutist.
Morning: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Our morning hours will be focused on technical mastery and style development. We'll explore the intricacies of phrasing and correct breathing techniques, all aimed at elevating your flute playing prowess and helping you establish your personal style.
Lunch Break: 12 – 2 p.m.
Use this break to unwind and nourish yourself. You could explore the local food scene, enjoy the beachside scenery, find a quiet spot in the park for some flute practice, or take a restful siesta. Make the most of this time to recharge for the afternoon session.
Afternoon: 2 – 5 p.m.
In the afternoon, we'll work on seamlessly integrating the techniques learned earlier into your playing. We'll also focus on harmonizing with backing tracks and other musicians. For those interested, we'll provide constructive feedback on your progress.

Jonny Lipford
Jonny Lipford is a world-renowned musician of extraordinary talent with more than 20 years of experience with the Native American flute and various world flutes. He has amassed dozens of accolades for his work, having written over 200 original songs, released 18 commercial albums, and toured nationally, appearing for audiences of up to 14,000 people.
Not only is Jonny a gifted musician, but he is also an accomplished and highly-sought after instructor, leading thousands of students each year through courses, workshops, lessons, and an exceptional online learning membership.

The Horizons Ocean Echoes Masterclass has been postponed. A new date and location TBA soon.
There is only room for 20 participants in the Masterclass event.
The program begins at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 25 and concludes at 5:00 p.m. There will be a two hour lunch break from 12:00–2:00 p.m.
All of the sessions are scheduled for indoors.
No. You do not need to be a member of Horizons to attend this event, but Horizons+ Members will receive a $30 discount on their admission to the Masterclass.
There is a 25% cancellation fee if you cancel before April 1, 2024. If you cancel your reservation on or after April 1, 2024, there is a 100% fee forfeiture.
We are aiming for this event to cater to participants whose skills are beyond just starting with the flute. If you are a novice or beginner flute player, please consider
starting with our beginner online course.
Please bring at least one of your flutes with you, (preferably key of A) a notepad or device to take notes on, a flute bag or other bag to help keep your materials together.
