Welcome to Mountain Melodies: Native Flute Masterclass, an immersive journey comprised of a full-day flute masterclass, a flute circle, a concert, and an optional two-day flute-making masterclass.
Throughout this immersive journey, you'll have the unique opportunity to refine your flute-playing skills under the expert guidance of Jonny Lipford. Additionally, you may delve into the fine art of flute making with David Webb of Dakota Windsong Flutes.
We've curated a series of enriching activities designed to inspire and develop your musical talents. You'll engage in intensive sessions focused on honing your signature sound, integrating technique, and finding harmony when sharing music, all while receiving invaluable feedback on your progress.
Toward the end of the masterclass, you'll have the chance to share your creations and thoughts with fellow participants.
On Sunday, we'll all gather for a magical flute circle that will surely make the hills come alive with the sound of music.
Sunday will conclude with a concert featuring your instructors: Jonny Lipford and David Webb.

Jonny Lipford
Jonny Lipford is a world-renowned musician of extraordinary talent with more than 20 years of experience with the Native American flute and various world flutes. He has amassed dozens of accolades for his work, having written over 200 original songs, released 18 commercial albums, and toured nationally, appearing for audiences of up to 14,000 people.
Not only is Jonny a gifted musician, but he is also an accomplished and highly-sought after instructor, leading thousands of students each year through courses, workshops, lessons, and an exceptional online learning membership.

David's journey with the Native Flute began in 2010. He was was compelled to follow a path and journey into this unique and spiritual art. Drawing upon a lifetime of engineering design, woodworking ability and music background and Dakota Windsong Flutes was born.
While he enjoys the art of crafting the Native American Style Flute, the true joy of this beautiful instrument is its’ unique simplicity, providing a sweet and haunting sound that both stirs the spirit and peacefully calms the soul of the warrior within.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Horizons Mountain Melodies Masterclass is on Saturday, August 3, 2024. But your registration also includes admission to the Flute Circle and Concert on Sunday, August 4th.
Registering for the Flute Making Session is separate.
There is only room for 20 participants in the Masterclass event.
The Masterclass program begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3 and concludes at 4:00 p.m. There will be a one hour lunch break from 12:00–1:00 p.m. and a food truck on-site.
All of the sessions are scheduled for indoors.
No. You do not need to be a member of Horizons to attend this event, but Horizons+ Members will receive a $45 discount on their admission to the Masterclass.
To attend either the Mountain Melodies Masterclass or the Flute-Making Masterclass you MUST pre-register. Walk-in's will not be accepted.
There is a 25% cancellation fee if you cancel before July 1, 2024. If you cancel your reservation on or after July 1, 2024, there is a 100% fee forfeiture.
We are aiming for this event to cater to participants whose skills are beyond just starting with the flute. If you are a novice or beginner flute player, please consider
starting with our beginner online course.
Please bring at least one of your flutes with you, (preferably key of A) a notepad or device to take notes on, a flute bag or other bag to help keep your materials together.
Horizons Flute Store will be offering a small selection of items for sale. David Webb will also be offering flutes for sale.
The-Flute Making Masterclass is being presented in conjunciton with this event. It will take place from 8:00-5:00 on Thursday, August 1 and Friday, August 2 (with a one hour lunch break).
